Creating charts and tracks for a superstar

How did we do it?

Tiffany first approached me to edit simple ‘sweetener’ tracks for her ‘Songs From The Silver Screen’ show. As the show title suggests, a themed set filed with classic big screen numbers like ‘Moon River’, ‘Over The Rainbow’, ‘The Sound Of Music’ and more.

These ‘sweetener’ tracks (which provide orchestral support for the live house band to play along to) had already been prepared but for her upcoming performance, there was no live bass player available so this part needed to be added to the track. A nice simple job!

A few months went by and Tiffany returned requesting an overhaul of all her existing tracks and charts. The scores needed to be written for a larger band (9-10 piece house orchestra) and tracks should be in 2 formats; a true backing track to add support to the live band and secondly a standalone track for solo performance without a band.

So many of these original arrangements were heavily orchestrated, huge string sections, percussion, all woodwind and horns. The works!

To recreate the sounds of these original recordings was challenging but incredibly enjoyable.
